Basia, Lissie and The Be Goods

I've experienced many music phases since my high school days - rap, indie rock, screamo, techno/trance and pop. I've been to one-to-many WARP tours and My Chemical Romance concerts. My Holland days were spent between raves and clubs. Currently I'm in a music overhaul...

This week I've skipped a long way to folk music. It's really pleasant company as I sit updating my mom's profiles, blogs, and answer e-mails. I reminds me of my Be Good Tanya  days. OMG I was obsessed with those chickies. It might have been helped by my Tree Planting Hippie phase. Just guessin??

Well it's not exactly the same this time, there's no dirt under my fingernails, or calluses on my feet. Or need to pick up a guitar in the middle of the woods. I showered this morning, put on St.Tropez sunless tanner and took a second to paint my toenails. We could say I've evolved...

Nonetheless it's a treat to listen to Basia Bulat as I do my work. She's so sweet, her voice is like having iced coffees with your best friend on the patio of your favorite local coffee shop. It even calms my puppy Maggie from jumping all over the place. There isn't a song on her album "Heart of My Own" that I don't like. Not to mention that she hails from London, Ontario... support support! Check out some of her videos here.

Basia isn't the only folkie-hippie girl on my playlist this week. I've also been eating-up Ms. Lissie, yes that bitty whose all over Hypem these days with her awesome covers like Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness and Lady Gaga's Bad Romance. Her album "Catching A Tiger" is full of awesome jams. Her voice is unique; sweet and Janis Joplin-esque all at once. I love it!

In this summer heat these folkie tunes are putting me in the mood for flower crowns in long curly blonde-locks, sundresses, late night bonfires, corn on the cob and gingham picnic blankets.
